Australia’s cool-temperate alpine flora occupies one of the continent’s most ecologically sensitive and botanically distinct zones — the montane and subalpine environments above 600 metres across Tasmania, Victoria and southern New South Wales. These are plants adapted to cold winters, summer frosts and the light quality of high-altitude landscapes, often endemic to restricted ranges and of increasing conservation significance.
