Athrotaxis selaginoides or King Billy Pine is a native evergreen conifer found in the high country of Tasmania. It occurs in the plateaus and high country and grows above the Eucalyptus line. It’s found growing with Athrotaxis cupressoides, Nothofagus cunninghamii, Phyllocladus aspleniifolius and Diselma archeri. This conifer is now considered endangered and is under threat from climate change. Specimens can live for several hundred years, reaching heights of approximately 30 metres.
