Wollemia nobilis — the Wollemi Pine — is one of the most significant botanical discoveries of the twentieth century. Rediscovered in a remote Blue Mountains gorge in 1994, it had been known only from fossil records dating back 90 million years. Fewer than 100 wild specimens are confirmed to exist; the captive-grown population underpins the global conservation effort.
