Caring for your living Monterey Pine is simple and rewarding. The key is consistent watering and careful placement.
During Christmas: Keep the tree indoors in a bright room, away from direct, harsh sunlight and heat sources like vents or heaters. The soil should be kept moist but never waterlogged—check it every day or two by touch.
After Christmas: Gradually re-acclimate the tree to the outdoors over a week, starting in a shaded spot before moving it to full sun.
Planting in the Garden: Monterey Pines are hardy and fast-growing. Choose a spot with full sun and well-draining soil. They are adaptable to a range of soil types but will perform best with regular watering during their first one or two summers while they establish.
