- Climate Reality: This species must experience cold winters. It is highly suited to the Southern Highlands, ACT, alpine Victoria, and Tasmania. It will suffer from heat stress and borers if planted in hot, coastal, or humid subtropical climates.
- Sunlight & Location: Prefers full sun to partial shade. Due to its striking bark, it is best planted against a dark evergreen backdrop to make the white trunks visually “pop.”
- Soil & Drainage: Adaptable to varying soil types but performs best in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-draining soils. While it tolerates damp areas better than many deciduous trees, avoid stagnant waterlogging.
