Three Veined Laurel (Cryptocarya triplinervis)

Cryptocarya triplinervis or Three-veined Laurel is a coastal and riverine rainforest tree native to New South Wales and Queensland. It is a medium evergreen tree growing 15 metres in height with a 5-metre spread, with attractive orange to red new foliage. Flowers are pale green, slightly fragrant from September to December and ripe fruit from February. Bird and butterfly attracting, and host tree for the Emperor Gum Moth. Requires adequate moisture year-round and tolerates most soil types, including sandy. It is common in warm to subtropical rainforests and found in cool temperate rainforests alongside Nothofagus moorei in northern NSW and Southern Queensland. Important tree for riverine restoration projects in both NSW and QLD. Can tolerate salt-laden winds.
