Whitey Wood (Acradenia frankliniae)
$39.95
Acradenia frankliniae, commonly known as the Whitey Wood, is a shrub or small tree endemic to Tasmania. It is growing in the rainforest of western Tasmania, from the Pieman River south to the Gordon River from sea level to an altitude of 200 m. It has glandular-warty branchlets, trifoliate leaves with narrow elliptic to lance-shaped leaflets, and panicles of white flowers in leaf axils and on the ends of branchlets. It reaches heights from 2 to 4 metres, with a spread of 1 to 2 metres. Flowering occurs from November to February, and mature fruits have been recorded from February to May.
It likes lightly acidic soils, with a pH of 5 to 6.5, and does best on rich organic, well-draining soil. It will tolerate clays and silts with additional soil improvers. It is suitable for group planting, screening, and as a feature plant.
